Our Story

Welcome to the Final Frontier of Sports Performance Development.

While Garrett has been working in the world of the mind and mental performance for years in private practice, his vision for the Helix Mental Performance Camp began when he obtained a grant to work with local teams to improve their mental performance in athletics. As Garrett worked with select teams through his grant-funded program, the results were obvious and near instantaneous. Coaches reported improved team cohesion and effort, decreased performance anxiety, increased general performance, and ultimately they reported more wins. This team-based feedback was nearly identical to feedback received from one-on-one interactions through is work ranging from professionals to middle-schoolers.

As a private practice therapist, Garrett could only work with so many clients on a weekly basis. Most of his time was taken up by his mental health practice and his ability to reach teen athletes in the performance space was limited by cost. Most teenage athletes could not afford what it would require to fully engage in a mental performance program. Wanting his resources to be more accessible and in order provide the highest quality experience possible, Garrett teamed with super star athletes and power-brokers in the mental performance space and designed a camp experience for athletes. With the goal of improving on and off field performance and improving accessibility, for the first time young athletes would have access to a first-of-its-kind program fueled by sports psychology. The Helix team created three days worth of mental training, motivation, leadership development, exposure to local college stars, and expert coaching.

In an era where strength and conditioning coaches are easier than ever to find, Helix Mental Performance is being hailed as the Final Frontier of athletic performance training. Garrett and his team believe that, while physical strength is essential, the mind holds the key to unlocking truly exceptional performance. Drawing from his own experiences as a state champion and All-American powerlifter, Garrett recognizes the power of hard work, but his professional journey has shown him that mental prowess can unlock even greater heights. This summer, Garrett's vision for an affordable, accessible, and highly effective camp centered around the power of sports psychology will come to life in the Treasure Valley from July 20-22.
